Behind the Scenes - Scripting a (nearly) wordless page
PANEL: We jump ahead a bit, viewing Cale from the front again; she has fallen asleep in the same position she was sitting in on Panel 3 of Page 9, her head now lowered, the bat still held across her knees.
CALE (a small snore): Snrt.
PANEL: We switch to an overhead view with Cale to the left of the panel and Penny and Eve to the right. Penny is sleeping on her left side, in the same position she was in on the last panel of Page 9, while Eve is sitting up and holding her blanket-covered knees as she glances at Penny thoughtfully.
PANEL: We focus on Cale and Eve as Eve, bending slightly by Cale’s right side, gently slides the bat out from under Cale’s hands.
PANEL: We view Eve from behind as she stands a few feet away from the window to stare out it, the bat held loosely in her right hand, its top pointing to the floor.
PANEL: We switch to a view outside the window, angled from near its left side as Eve lifts it open with both hands, the bat held between her side and upper right arm.
See Page 19 of Part 3 for exterior reference, including the backyard on the following page.
PANEL: We view the window head-on, and from a farther distance than the previous panel, as Eve awkwardly climbs out of it with the bat, looking down at the ground as she does so. We can clearly see the Flatwoods Monster’s footprints.
