Spera: Vol. 2 is now available in comic stores and will be available wherever books are sold starting March 12th. It can also be ordered from online retailers such as Amazon.
nooo internet, sorry I only have the crappy shop camera for this, but this book is just TOO GOOD not to post about! SPERA VOLUME 2 YOU ARE AMAZING. I am in this volume, as well as a bunch of other badasses. I especially think Kyla Vanderklugt and Anna Wieszczyk nailed it! Really, everyone did a stellar job, and Archaia has really been stepping it up quality-wise with their hardbacks recently. Go pick this book up at your local comic shop ASAP!
PS add tags as you see fit!
Julia Scott takes you on a tour of the new book!
After years of working and waiting, Spera: Vol. 2 is now available in comic stores from Archaia!
From the site:
In their quest for adventure, Princesses Pira and Lono — along with their companions, the fire spirit Yonder and warrior cat Chobo — have made their way to the big city. There they must contend with strange laws, stranger men and the strangest monsters if they wish to join the city’s prestigious Adventurer’s Guild — and then, only if the enigmatic Rale will let them!
Spera: Volume II is written and edited by creator Josh Tierney and features main story art by Giannis Milonogiannis, Kyla Vanderklugt, Afu Chan and Timothy Weaver. The front cover and chapter covers (most of which can be seen above) are by Afu Chan, Spera’s character designer.
The second half of the book contains short comics by Michael Dialynas, Mikkel Sommer, Paul Maybury, Kris Mukai, Zac Gorman, Louis Roskosch, Rachel S. (Baru), Julia Scott, Anna Wieszczyk (lettered by Ed Brisson), Roman Muradov and Polly Guo.
Also included are pin-ups by Afu Chan, Roxie Vizcarra, Nick Edwards, Jake Wyatt and Joanna Krótka.
You can also read free short comics on Spera-Comic.com, several of which offer added insight into the events in Vol. 2.
In addition to the site and this Tumblr, other places to follow Spera include the Facebook page and deviantART group account.
We hope you enjoy the book! Please let us know what you think!
I’m loving how this scene is turning out. The way Julia depicts blood and violence is very unique and striking. Beef’s punches hit *hard*.
Also, check out that new site design!
After much waiting and anticipation, Spera Volume 2 comes out in comic shops tomorrow! Hooray! I was lucky enough to be able to contribute to the volume in the form of a 7 page backup story that I wrote as a small prequel scene after finishing reading the complete web series. In said story, Lono drinks a little too much wine and gets a glimpse of the future. Meanwhile, Pira wears a dress, has a tense moment with her mother, and appears in magical armor once or twice. I also relished dropping small jokes about the girls drinking each other’s blood when talking about wine as a nod to the crescendo of the main story, which was my favorite part. The pages were done in a pretty experimental fashion, and don’t really look like any of my other work, but I still enjoy how they turned out, and feel like they can at least stand up with respect in comparison to all the other glorious artists in the book. Anyway, pick it up tomorrow at your local comic shop! OR buy it online for your ipads and internet whatsicallits
